This summer, Hebei Gongtan Technology Co., Ltd. sent its technical and breeding teams to Zhangye, Gansu, for an on-site visit and exchange at the corn seed production base.
Zhangye, located in the Hexi Corridor, boasts abundant sunlight, large diurnal temperature variation, and excellent isolation conditions, making it a core region for corn seed production. The team visited fields to observe the entire seed production process—from parental line propagation and isolation planting to detasseling, pollination, harvesting, and drying—and engaged in in-depth discussions with base technicians on key issues such as variety selection, purity control, and yield improvement.
This visit gave us a clearer understanding of production and management practices for high-quality corn seeds, while gathering valuable frontline experience to support our future variety development and seed quality improvements.
